Is now a good time to consider a career in aviation?
In recent years I've struggled with two facts: I love aviation, but it seems to be withering away. As someone who has spoken to literally thousands of kids on career day, I wanted desperately to tell them to consider flying as a career. Often though, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. It's simply too difficult a course to consider. A large investment of both time and money followed by slim chances of ever making a decent living, or getting a great job. In researching whether or not to start Hansen Aviation, I was ecstatic to discover that things have indeed changed. In fact, I would go so far as to state that the industry has done a 180. In my over two decades of flying, I have NEVER seen a better time to begin flying with the hopes of making it a career. Airlines are hiring in record numbers, pay scales have increased dramatically, and opportunities abound. Is this a good time to consider a career in aviation? The answer is unequivocally yes! In my next post, I'll go over why I believe this happened...a perfect storm of sorts.
